Firstly, a little about our smoothies...
1. Our smoothies are created in a Vitamix, because... it's really the best way to get a smooth smoothie, there's no stopping it, it will grind your kale, nuts, and ice into smooth (never pulpy, or chalky, or full of ice chunks), deliciousness.
2. Most recipes make a Vitamix full, which is 64 oz... enough to share with your family and friends :). Extra smoothie can be stored in the fridge for the next day. I like to use glass canning jars. Of course, you can also cut the recipe in half, if you would like.
3. The majority of our ingredients are from an organic source.
4. Most of our smoothies are sufficient as a meal replacement, but only if you do add ALL the ingredients... there is all sorts of goodness in them. (We usually drink a quart on it's own, or a pint along with a salad if I want some grubbage.) They're also great if you need to add extra calories to your diet, in that case, not meal replacement but an addition!
5. Add your ingredients in the order listed... it just works best that way. Place all ingredients in your Vitamix EXCEPT for ice. Turn on speed "Variable" and 1, blend for about 1 minute, then increase gradually to 10. Blend until it sounds smooth. Then add your ice (about 2-4 cups). Blend, add a bit of water if you don't see it swirling at the top. Blend til it sounds smooth!
6. WHERE CAN YOU FIND THESE INGREDIENTS? Okay, we have heard you & I want to help!
Some of our readers have expressed that it is impossible for them to find some of the ingredients we use (or they can find them, but they are too expensive at their local stores). We used to order many of our products through Azure Standard (Once a month ordering and free delivery at amazing prices!). Typically, we find most of our groceries at Costco. They have such a huge selection of organics and the prices are great, especially with their cash back program! For items we cant find at Costco, we head over to Whole Foods. You really can shop smart and stick to your budget at Whole Foods! Another good resource is Amazon. We have provided links to Amazon within our posts for some of the ingredients. Let us know if we can help!

Last but not least, if you don't have an ingredient listed in a recipe, just improvise! As for the Healthforce products, protein powders, etc... they're fantastic, but you can totally make the smoothies without them. They do add a ton of nutrients, minerals, vitamins, etc... BUT just make the smoothie with what you do have!

Wellness Elixir is excellent when you're fighting an illness, or just need an immunity boost. Som Cordials makes a delicious Pineapple Drinking Vinegar, which adds fantastic flavor and a touch of sweetness that really compliments the bite of ginger root!
In our Sweet Berry Tart, we had fun with the addition of Izze's Sparkling Apple! We have also made this with an apple and 1/2 cup of water, which adds fiber, folate, and vitamin A, etc... which you wont get with a juice concentrate. Pressed apple cider would be another great option. As I said above, use what you have!
These two smoothies made 32-48 ounces. It really depends on the sizes of fruit.

Better than Orange Julius
4 Oranges (peeled if large, leave some peel on if small, it's sweet and got sooo much nutrition! Organic only though or it's loaded with pesticides!) 1 Frozen Banana 1/2 Cup Orange Juice 2 Cups Almond Milk 1 TbspHealthforce Fruits of the Earth and/or Vitamineral Green (you pick ;) 1 1/2 tsp Real Vanilla Extract Big Pinch Sea Salt 2 Big Handfuls Baby Kale Ice |
CARDAMOM SEA
2 cups Water
2 Frozen Bananas
2 Handfuls Raw & Soaked Cashews
4-6 Medjool Dates
1-2 Tbsp Vitamineral Green
3 Tbsp Hemp Protein Powder
1 Heaping tsp Maca Powder
2 Big Pinches of Himalayan Salt
Big Splash of Real Vanilla Extract
1/2-1 tsp Ground Cardamom (you decide) OR even better 3-5 drops of Young Living Cardamom Essential Oil!* or both!
2 Tbsp Coconut Oil (unrefined, of course)
1 Heaping Tbsp Raw Honey (or Stevia, if you'd rather, or nothing if you're stoked on the sweetness of the dates alone)
Ice
Put a pinch of Cardamom on top before serving.
~ VARIATIONS: Substitute Vitamineral Green for 1-2 Tbsp Vitamineral Earth (it will taste more like Sparrow Bakery's Ocean Roll now (You're welcome ;),(but it wont be the color of the sea anymore, therefore, that variation shall be called "Cardamom Cream"). ADDITIONS: 1 tsp Bee Pollen

It made for a thick and rich smoothie! It tasted perfect, so I wouldn't want to water it down with ice! Blackberry Banana Split
2 Cups Cold Water 2 Bananas (frozen is great!) 3 Handfuls Cashews 3 Tbsp Hemp Protein 1-2 Tbsp Vitamineral Earth 1 1/2 tsp Maca Powder 6 Medjool Dates Splash of Vanilla Extract 8-10 Drops of Stevia (optional) Dash of Himalayan Sea Salt Juice of 1 Lemon 2-3 Handfuls of Spinach 1/2 Cup Frozen Blueberries 2-3 Cups Frozen Blackberries 1-2 Cups Ice Chia Seeds (optional) For this recipe, place all of the ingredients in your Vitamix in the order listed above, excluding the frozen berries. Blend starting on low 1, increase gradually to 10, blend until smooth. Add frozen berries, blend until smooth. Lastly, add ice and blend until smooth. Remember to keep about 1 cup of water close...if at any point your smoothie is not in constant motion, add a bit of water until it begins to swirl again. Sprinkle Chia Seeds on top and ENJOY! Blend all ingredients, except for frozen strawberries and ice, until smooth. Add frozen strawberries and ice and blend until smooth. If needed, add another 1/2 cup of water to thin it out. After pouring into glasses, sprinkle the top of each smoothie with a bit of hemp seeds for a little snack with those first few drinks! Mmmmm... |

"Just say "NO" to supermarket essential oils! No really... please don't waste your money like I did. I am the type of person that would read all of this info... get excited and then immediately begin searching for a cheaper version of essential oil... yes, I did that actually. I ended up with my symptoms worsening (& my daughter experienced burns from oils I bought at Whole Foods! Bad mom moment.) and in disappointment that this "oil thing" did not work! But alas! It was simply because I was using crappy oils!" - Lori
Why cant you just buy your essential oils at the grocery store? "Over 90% of what is sold in the United States as 'pure' essential oil is fragrance-grade and diluted. (The FDA has determined that a product need contain only 5% of the ingredient on the label in order to use the word pure.) These oils are found on the shelves of many health food stores and at online discount houses. They may be less expensive, but THEY WILL NOT BE USEFUL FOR HEALTH :( ."
They may even be harmful... containing synthetics, chemicals, toxins, etc.
